PATIENT SERVICES

MAIL
Patient mail is not censored. However, mail and packages are to be opened by the patient in the presence of a staff member. Staff will distribute patient mail each day. The outgoing mail is to be placed in the mail basket in the dining room. Postage stamps may be purchased from the Administrative Assistant during business hours (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday).

Only letters and packages received through the U.S. Postal Service or through a recognized delivery service like UPS or Fed Ex will be delivered to patients. There will be no hand delivered notes. No mail should be forwarded to you at our address.

Any pornographic mail will be destroyed, in the presence of a staff member, or returned to sender.

MESSAGES
All emergency calls will be given to the patient’s counselor, who will determine the necessity of making a return call. The counselor may allow the patient to make a supervised call.

This is a confidential program. We will not acknowledge your presence or give out any information without your prior permission. The individual requesting information must have your resident code number and his/her name must be placed on a release of confidentiality form signed by you.

PASTORAL SERVICES
Pastoral services are not available.

If you want to meet privately with a pastor, arrangements will be made in advance by your counselor. Patients will not be allowed to meet with a pastor with whom they have a dual relationship (their father, uncle, etc.).

ACTIVITY THERAPY
An important part of recovery includes developing physical fitness and planning leisure activities. There are opportunities for recreation and leisure activities that you are expected to attend.

BEAUTY PARLOR/BARBER SHOP
An on-site salon is provided where patients can maintain their hair (wash, blow-dry, etc.). Each patient will be responsible for maintaining his/her hair. Any hair styling products will be purchased individually, and must be alcohol free.

Patients are not allowed to cut or put chemicals in each other’s hair. Patients who can do each other’s hair cannot charge or engage in a barter system (paying with cigarettes, etc.). Patients who break these rules will be brought before the treatment team for non-compliance. Hours that the salon is open will be posted on the door.

Barbering service will be provided as needed at the expense of the patient.
